Huey Lewis and yours truly. This was taken in the stairwell of Headly Grange, the storied rock'n'roll mansion located in Headly, Hampshire, fifty miles south of London in 1976. We were so thin that when we arrived back in the States our friends plied us with burgers and beer to fatten us up so that the veins on our faces wouldn't be so pronounced.
Clover in Amsterdam 1976. I think this was when we were recording the album with Twiggy. She cut one of my songs, "I Lie Awake and Dream of You". It was my first cut.
The young and kimono-clad. Wow, didn't we look good! John McFee: a true guitar god. He had me playing twin guitar parts with him. I could barely keep up! But I had better kimonos. Got them at a cool, cheap shop in London.
Here I am at my old home club, the Sweetwater, in Mill Valley, circa 1992. My band, Real Life, was quite good, if I do say so myself. In the background is my good pal Alex Murzyn, a wonderful sax guy.
Well, it may be a bit tacky to put this on the site, but it's not every day one gets in "People Magazine". Is this the fifteen mintues of fame that is spoken of? If so, where's the fortune that goes with the fame? I am on the same page as the guy who came up with,"Where's the Beef?" Highly appropriate!
Huey and I were both too young to be drinking , so this must have been faux whiskey. Actually, for those Clover Family memnbers who can still remember, this was at Roger Somer's place in Muir Woods - John and Ronnelle's wedding party. 1969? See, can't remember! You had to have been there. The top hat and collar with no shirt was quite fashionable.
gettin sweaty at the Sweetwater 1989. I was skinny, almost a black belt in taekwando, had a fat wallet. What happened? Life its-own-self, that's what!!
Chris Michie took this photo and hand-colored it in felt pen. A good, guy, Chris, who taught me a lot. He passed away last year, following his long-time music pal Andy Kuhlberg. I'm lucky to have played music with both of them.
I still look like this.. when I'm dreaming anyway...
